How to Color and Highlight Text
Give any words in your book a color, or a highlight behind them. Select the words, and both are in the small menu that appears above them.
How to color text

Select the words, then click Text color (the A) in the menu above them.

Choose a color. Press Esc when you’re done.

Colors and highlights show in your e-book, your print-ready PDF and your DOCX. The colors in your Word document come in with it when you import.
How to highlight text

Select the words, then click Highlight color (the highlighter) in the menu above them.

Choose a color. Press Esc when you’re done.
The highlight picker works the same way as the text color one.
How to remove a color or highlight

Select the words and open Text color or Highlight color.

Click the striped circle, the first one in the row (No Color for text, Transparent for a highlight).
How to save a brand color
A brand color is one you save to use again anywhere in your book.

Open Text color or Highlight color and click +.

Choose the color, then click Save.
It shows in every color picker in this book. Click it twice to change it, or point at it and click its × to delete it. A style saved in My Styles, and Copy Styles from Another Book, bring brand colors along (Brand Colors).
Other places you can set colors
Many parts of your book have colors of their own: text, backgrounds and borders. Set those in each element’s settings.

Questions
Is there a way to change the text color in Lacuna?
Yes. Select the words, then click Text color in the menu above them.
Can I color text in a table?
No, the menu with Text color doesn’t open inside a table. To color a table’s header row, click the table, then Edit Table Style › Header Row › Text Color.
Will my colors show in black and white?
Yes, as shades of gray. A black and white print book prints your colors in gray (your print-ready PDF keeps them, whichever Interior Color you choose): turn on Grayscale Mode in the print preview settings to check. Some e-readers are black and white too: choose Kindle E-reader, Kobo Clara BW or Nook Simple Touch in the e-reader preview to see your colors there.
