How to Set Your Trim Size
Your trim size is the size your printed pages are cut to. Set it under Page Setup in Print Settings, and see each change in the print preview. Your page margins are measured from its edges.
How to choose your trim size
-
Click Print Settings and choose Trim Size, under Page Setup. Or click the Trim size under the print preview.
-
Click a size. Your book changes to it right away.

How to set a custom trim size
-
In Trim Size, turn on Custom Size.
-
Type the Width and Height, in inches or millimeters, then click Apply.
Each side can be 3 to 12 inches (76 to 305 mm). A size typed in millimeters is kept in whole millimeters. Turn Custom Size off to go back to the list.
How to work in millimeters
Lacuna shows every page measurement in inches or millimeters. One setting switches them all, in every book, and Lacuna remembers it.
-
Click mm at the top of Trim Size or Margins. Or open Lacuna Settings (the cogwheel in the side menu) and, on Project Settings, set Page measurements to Millimetres.
-
Type your trim size, safe zone, margins and bleed in millimeters.
Trim sizes, every margin, bleed, and the size under the print preview all switch together. Click in to go back. Switching never changes your pages, only how their sizes are shown.
Questions
Can Lacuna support my trim size?
Yes. Choose one of the 22 sizes in Trim Size (A4 and A5 included), or turn on Custom Size and set any size from 3 to 12 inches on each side (76 to 305 mm).
Why is my PDF bigger than my trim size?
Your book has bleed: something prints to the edge of a page, so every page grows by the bleed. The printer trims it off, back to your trim size.
