Book parts let you categorize your book into subsections. They’re perfect for multi-part novels, anthologies, or any book that benefits from grouping chapters together.
What Are Book Parts?
A book part is a divider that groups related sections together. When you create a book part, all sections below it belong to that part until the next book part begins. To bundle complete books inside one project (omnibus or box set), use book volumes instead.
Table of Contents
When you use book parts, all sections within a part are indented in your table of contents. You can customize how book parts appear in your TOC, including typography and spacing, in the book part settings.
Creating a Book Part
Select the sections you want in the book part from the project sidebar
Right-click the selected sections
Click “Create part from selected sections”
Book Part Rendering Options
When you create a book part, you can choose from four rendering styles:
Lacuna Default
A styled part page similar to the title page. You can control:
Part number typography — Font, size, and styling for “Part One”
Part name typography — Font, size, and styling for your part title
Spacing — Control the layout and positioning
Full Page Image
Use an image as your part divider. This works exactly like a full-page image section with the same settings and options.
Custom Content
A fully editable section where you can add any content you want. This works like a normal section, giving you complete control over what appears on your part page.
No Page
A grouping-only option that doesn’t render a visible page. This allows you to organize sections in your table of contents without adding a physical part page to your book.
