How to Use Call-Out Boxes
Call-out boxes are highlighted content blocks used to draw attention to important information, tips, warnings, or any content that should stand out from the main text.
How to Create a Call-Out Box
- Select the content you want to highlight
- Click the call-out box icon in your editor toolbar
- View your content with borders applied
What Can Go Inside a Call-Out Box
Call-out boxes aren’t limited to plain text. You can place most elements inside them to add borders around:
- Blockquotes — Give quoted text extra visual emphasis
- Images — Frame photos or illustrations with a border
- Handwriting — Highlight letters, notes, or diary entries
This flexibility lets you create bordered sections for any content that needs to stand out.
Customizing Your Call-Out Box
When you select a call-out box, the inline style panel appears on the left side of the editor. This panel has three tabs that give you full control over your call-out box’s appearance: Border, Spacing, and Color.
Border
- Thickness — Control the border thickness on each side (Left, Right, Top, Bottom)
- Style — Select Solid, Dashed, or Dotted
- Roundness — Control how rounded the corners are
Spacing
- Outer Spacing — Space around the outside of the call-out box on all four sides
- Inner Spacing — Padding between the border and the content (Left, Right, Top, Bottom)
Color
- Background Color — Choose from predefined options (White, Black, Neutral, Info, Success, Warning, Danger) or use a custom RGB color
- Text Color — Choose Black, White, or use a custom RGB color
Using Presets
You can save and reuse call-out box styles with presets. This makes it easy to apply consistent border styles across all call-out boxes in your book.
Finding Call-Out Boxes
Use the Elements tab in the section sidebar to find all call-out boxes in your book and jump directly to any of them.
