How to Use Background Images
Place a full-page image behind a section’s pages in your printed book. For art that spans a two-page spread instead, use split-page background images.
Add a Background Image
- Open the section’s Options menu
- Choose Set Section’s Background, then Set Print Background Images
- On the Single Page tab, click Upload Background Image (or Browse Existing Images to reuse one from your gallery)
You can drag and drop a file or click to choose one. Nearly any image format is accepted (JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and more) up to 10MB; anything that isn’t already JPEG or PNG converts automatically. JPEG is preferred, since PNG can sometimes shift in a PDF. After uploading, a preview and a print-quality (PPI) check appear so you know the image is sharp enough.
Image Settings
- Bleed. Safe Zone keeps the image inside the printable margins. Full Bleed runs it to the trimmed edge of the page for a borderless look.
- Fill. How the image scales to the page: Fit (whole image, may leave gaps), Cover (fills the page, may crop), or Fill (stretches to fit).
- Position. Anchor the image to the Top, Center, or Bottom. The opposite edge is cropped if the image is taller than the page.
- Opacity. Lower it to fade the image so text stays easy to read.
