Export Store-Specific EPUBs

Every copy of your ebook can point readers at the store they are already shopping in. Once your book uses store links, the Generate E-Book dialog can produce one EPUB per store, or a single file tailored to one store, with every store link resolved to the right URL.

One File or One EPUB Per Store

Click Generate, select Generate E-Book, and find the Output choice in the dialog:

  • One file creates a single EPUB or PDF.
  • Multiple stores creates a separate EPUB for each store you select, each with its store links resolved to that store.

One file

With One file selected, use the Store selector to choose who the file is for:

  • Any keeps your links store-neutral and lets you pick the Output Format (EPUB 3.0, EPUB 2.0, or PDF). Links resolve to your Generic URL first.
  • A specific store (Amazon (Kindle), Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or Google Play) exports the same EPUB 3.0 file that store would get from Multiple stores, with store links resolved to that store.

Multiple stores

With Multiple stores selected:

  1. Check the stores you want under Stores. The Select: shortcuts All, With links, and None speed this up, and a green check on a store means at least one store link in your book has a URL for it.
  2. Choose where the files go with Choose folder under Output folder. If you skip this, Lacuna asks when generating.
  3. Click generate. Lacuna writes one file per store into the folder, named like My Book (Amazon).epub and My Book (Apple Books).epub.

How Lacuna Picks the URL

For each store’s file, a store link uses that store’s URL. If you left that field blank, Lacuna falls back to the next best URL you did provide, so a link never comes out empty or broken. Print and PDF exports use the Generic URL first.

In the device previewer, each device shows only its own store’s URL (or Generic), so you can spot-check what every reader will see.
