Add Book Metadata and Information

Click the metadata button in the section sidebar to set your book’s publishing information. Title, author, ISBN, and cover image are recommended to export your book to EPUB. The self-publishing checklist confirms they’re all set before generation.

Book Metadata Features

Title & Subtitle

Your book’s main title and optional subtitle that appear on the cover and in digital stores.

Author Information

Primary author name with separate fields for first, middle, and last names.

Contributors

Add co-authors, editors, illustrators, or other collaborators to your book.

Publication Details

Language setting, ISBN, and series information for professional publishing.

Language

The Language selector on the Book Details tab does more than label your book. It drives three things:

  • Store metadata. It’s embedded in your EPUB as the book’s language, which stores and e-readers use for search, categorization, and their own text handling.
  • Print hyphenation. Hyphenation follows language-specific patterns, and English (U.S.) and English (GB) genuinely break words differently (American splits “rec-og-nize”, British splits “re-cog-nize”). Pick the English your book is written in, not just “English”.
  • Editor defaults. Spellcheck and new hyphenation dictionary entries default to this language.

English (U.S.) is the default; Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, German, Italian, Turkish, Polish, Dutch, and Swedish are also available.

Cover Image Upload

Switch to the Cover tab to add your book’s cover image.
