Paragraph letter spacing only changes your print-ready PDF. It has no effect on EPUB or ebook PDF.

Paragraph letter spacing lets you tighten or loosen the space between letters in just that one paragraph. This is helpful for mitigating rivers and runs.

How to Adjust a Paragraph

Look to the right of any paragraph in the editor. You will see a small cog wheel. Click it to open the letter spacing control for that paragraph. From there, nudge the spacing tighter or looser until the paragraph reads cleanly on the page.

Checking Your Changes

This adjustment only shows up in print, so you will want to look at the result in print preview rather than the device preview. Fast mode is best while you are tuning individual paragraphs. When you are happy, switch to slow mode to confirm the page break and the lines around it still look right.
