Choose New Book Style

Browse and apply from 31 professionally designed styles. Each style coordinates your titles, drop caps, blockquotes, ornamental breaks, and all other formatting elements into a cohesive look.

How to Select and Apply

  1. Click New Style in the header bar. The Choose a Style screen opens in place of the editor, with your book’s live preview still visible beside it.
  2. Browse the Premade Styles grid. Every card shows a miniature chapter opening rendered in that style.
  3. Click a style to preview it. Your book’s preview restyles instantly so you see the style on your own content. Nothing is applied yet.
  4. Click Apply Style to Book (or Apply Style in the floating prompt) to commit.

The grid starts with two cards under Starting points: Current Style, which returns the preview to how your book looks now, and Default, which resets to Lacuna’s default look. All 31 styles follow in alphabetical order.

What Styles Include

When you apply a style, it updates all of your book’s formatting elements at once:

  • Chapter titles and subtitles
  • Drop caps
  • Blockquotes
  • Ornamental breaks
  • Body text formatting
  • Heading layouts
  • And more

This gives your book a consistent, professionally coordinated look without manually adjusting each element.

Your Own Styles Live Here Too

Next to Premade Styles you’ll find the My Styles tab, your personal style library. Save the way a finished book looks, reuse it in every book that follows, or share it as a file with another author. See My Styles for the full guide.
