Style Ornamental Breaks

Ornamental breaks are visual separators you can place between scenes or sections within your content. You have four options to choose from.

Ornamental Break Types

None

Displays a basic amount of vertical space with no visible element. Use this when you want a clean break without any decoration.

Text

Display custom text content as your ornamental break. You can control:

  • Text content — Enter whatever text you want (commonly symbols like *** or ###)
  • Alignment — Position the text left, center, or right
  • Vertical spacing — Control the space above and below the text

Line

A simple horizontal line. You can control the top and bottom vertical spacing to adjust how much room the line takes up.

Image

Display an image as your ornamental break. You can:

  • Upload your own — Add a custom image that matches your book’s style
  • Choose from predefined — Scroll down in the images panel to browse the built-in ornamental designs

You can also control alignment, width, and vertical spacing for images.
