How to Style Blockquotes

Blockquotes are used for quoted text, poetry, letters, and highlighted passages in your book.

Typography

Control the text appearance of your blockquotes:

• Font — Choose from available typefaces
• Font Size — Set the size of the text

Alignment

Position your blockquote text:

• Left — Align text to the left
• Center — Center the text
• Right — Align text to the right
• Justified — Stretch text to fill the full width

Line Spacing

Control the space between lines of text within your blockquote.

Paragraph Spacing

Control the space between paragraphs within your blockquote.

What Counts as a Paragraph

Paragraphs are created with a full return (Enter key). If you hold Shift and press Return, you create a line break instead. You can identify line breaks by the small sideways L symbol that appears to the right. Line breaks do not count as paragraph separations. Make sure you use a clear Enter to separate paragraphs if you want paragraph spacing to apply.

Paragraph Indentation

Enable this option to automatically indent the first line of each paragraph within your blockquote.

Outer Spacing

Control the space around the entire blockquote:

• Left — Space to the left of the blockquote
• Right — Space to the right of the blockquote
• Top — Space above the blockquote
• Bottom — Space below the blockquote
