How to Customize Your Subheadings (H1 to H6)

Subheadings (H1 through H6) help you create visual hierarchy within your sections. You have complete control over how each heading level appears throughout your book.

Features

Typography

Control the core text properties of your subheadings:

  • Font — Choose from hundreds of professional typefaces
  • Size — Set the exact size in points

Weight and Transform

Adjust the visual emphasis and case of your subheadings:

  • Weight — Set the thickness of the text
  • Transform — Choose between CAPS, lowercase, or Title Case

Outer Spacing

Control the space around your subheadings on all four sides:

  • Top — Space above the subheading
  • Bottom — Space below the subheading
  • Left — Space to the left of the subheading
  • Right — Space to the right of the subheading

Prevent Page Breaks

Enable this option to keep your subheadings connected to the content that follows. If a subheading would appear as the last item on a page, it automatically moves to the next page so it stays with its content.

Automated Ornamental Breaks

You can automatically attach an ornamental break above your subheadings. Choose from your ornamental break presets to add a decorative element before every heading of that level.

Borders

Add borders to any side of your subheadings:

  • Enable Borders — Toggle borders on or off
  • Control All Four Sides — Choose which sides display a border (top, bottom, left, right)

Inner Padding

Adjust the spacing between your subheading text and its borders to create the exact look you want.
