How to Add Emojis to Your Book

Lacuna offers thousands of emojis you can add to your book.

Inserting Emojis

  1. Place your cursor where you want the emoji to appear
  2. Click the emoji button in the editor toolbar
  3. Browse or search for the emoji you want
  4. Click the emoji to insert it into your text

Emoji Sizing

Emojis scale with the surrounding text size. If you place an emoji in a heading or subheading, it will be larger. If you place it in body text, it will match that size.

How Emojis Work

When you export your book, Lacuna generates images for each emoji behind the scenes. This means:

  • Print compatible — Standard emojis do not work in print, but since Lacuna renders them as images, they will appear correctly in your printed book
  • Consistent appearance — Your emojis look the same across all devices and ebook readers
  • File size — The images are lightweight, but if you use a lot of emojis, they can add extra size to your EPUB files
