Add Images to Your Book

Images enhance your book’s reading experience. Lacuna supports PNG and JPG formats up to 10MB, with automatic optimization to reduce distribution costs.

Adding Images

Using the Toolbar

1. Click the image icon in your editor toolbar
2. Drag your image file into the upload area
3. Position the image where you want it in your text

Drag & Drop Alternative

You can also drag image files directly from your computer into the editor where you want them to appear.

File Formats

Use PNG and JPG images under 10MB. Smaller files perform better and cost less to distribute.

Image Properties

Select any image to access the bubble menu for alignment and sizing options:

Alignment & Sizing

• Alignment - Left, center, or right positioning
• Size - Adjust from 25% to 100% of text column width

Alt Text for Accessibility

Alt text helps visually impaired readers understand your images and improves accessibility.

Adding Alt Text

1. Click on any image
2. Select “Set Alt Text” from the bubble menu
3. Enter a clear description of the image
4. Save your changes

Visual Indicators

• Red border - Images missing alt text
• Normal border - Images with alt text

Finding Missing Alt Text

Use the Elements tab in the section sidebar to find images without alt text. Look for the alert icon next to flagged images.

Automatic Optimization

Lacuna automatically compresses images to reduce file size and distribution costs while maintaining visual quality.
